Juicy Beauty

Hello!
look at what i have here...... Heirloom tomatoes!

Heirloom Tomatoes are probably my favorite delight (next to strawberries this is...) this time of year. Seriously Just look at these babys!! Volumptious! Juicy! and most importantly.... absolutely BULGING with LOVE!:)

Now an Heirloom PLANT is also known as what we call an " Heritage" plant. A "cultiver" plant - A plant which was grown back in earlier history- but today not used in large scale agriculture production becuase these beauties are precious. They are called cultivers--- "selected and given a unique name because of its decorative or useful characteristics" Heirloom tomatoes are culitvers- and they get the name because the seeds go back to as 100 years old!!! They are kinda like the "secret" seeds that lucky farmers can get there hands on and grow these voumptious buldging puppys. Popping up to be very popular in organic farming and in trendy fresh culinary plates. I know i get pretty excited when i see such a unique creation like this. This kind of natural indifferent beauty is hard to come by!

Not one of them is the same in shape size or form- Or colour- All uniquely created divine design --- true old fashioned beauty- something i say is hard to come by (and not just in the vegetable department that is eh?.....). I think its pretty cool how farmers breed them or shall i say make love with them..... It is some pretty serious stuff - reproduction - To be a farmer of Heirloom tomatoes - culitvers something SO extravagant in beauty - Not cloning - but trusting the seed planted - and really nurturing this seed - caring for these oh so so tender hearted tomatoes:) These baby's are like bringing up little new Born's. You have to be gentle and talk sweetly to them you know.

My favorite one is the Green ZEBRA, HILLBILLY or the ROSE- as seen above--- There is the classification of " big rainbow" where lots of swirly whirlis- Probably the ones we are seeing today in our local shops-- God you are so beautiful!! :)

The flesh in one of these tomatoes is almost what i would call "meaty" There is alot mouthful in a bite. You will see what i mean when you go find one and slice her open. As you know tomato's are really a fruit... they are sweet- the acidity is lower in the more yellow ones- slicing one up on a tasted fresh tomato sandwich .. Little--aoli- mayonnaise- salt and--fresh pepper is one of my favorite things to do! So so fresh- the only way to eat them!

Imagine OK JUST the visual of being in Spain and having a tomato fight with these?!! I would just keep my mouth open wear a bib and have salt and pepper in each hand!:) give it to be baby! The streets would be rainbow spit splat slop..... Have you ever seen the movie "HOOK?" With "Rufio" they have the food fight at the banquet table and it is all multi coloured food bombs!?... kinda how i picture an heirloom tomato fight in them streets of Spain... EEk.... wait till you get a sloppy green zebra right in the face.. how bout a "wild cherry".. brandywine sounds nice to me...uh oh... ok sorry hehehe bring it back cyd..... :)

( Heirloom tomato and fresh boconcinni salad- fresh basil- red onion- olive oil - fig balsamic- little sea salt- fresh cracked pink pepper ..... )

Well i just wanted to share some TRUE beauty to all your heart.... and belly today!

Hopefully i have inspired you to go out and select an heirloom beauty that meets your eye at the store or the farm today! Usually they are in a basket - all comfied and juiced up - and you can select a few different colours and shapes- breeds-- just be nice to them and caress them gently. remember its nice to showcase them in a dish where you can reveal their original TRUE Figure, shape and size--- beauty comes in ALL shapes and SIZES!!! :)

"One thing I ask of the LORD,
this is what I seek....
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
ALL the days of my life,
TO GAZE UPON the BEAUTY of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple. psalm 27:4

ok love love love

Cydney :)
